Adobe Contribute CMS
Contribute is outstanding value for money and is as flexible and powerful as any bespoke CMS system we have worked with. Unlike many such systems it is as easy to edit website content as it would be to edit a Word document - what you see is what you get. It also offers facilities to allow many people to work on the site at once without conflicting with each other.
Adobe® Contribute® CS3 enables content authors to quickly and easily update existing websites and blogs while maintaining site integrity — with no technical expertise required. Contribute is familiar to users of Microsoft Office applications and requires no technical expertise.
The Contribute workflow
Contribute uses a browse-edit-publish workflow to help you easily find the web page or blog entry to edit, make changes to it, and then update the web page or blog entry on your website or blog server.
1. Browse to a page or blog entry. Use the Contribute browser to find the web page or blog entry you want to edit. The browser will be familiar to users of Microsoft Internet Explorer and other popular browsers. The browser toolbar has the normal navigation buttons plus a Choose button to help you navigate to files that aren’t linked on your website. You can create bookmarks in Contribute and view your Internet Explorer bookmarks. You can also use shortcuts to view current drafts quickly.
2. Edit your content. After you browse to the desired page or blog entry, click the Edit Page or Edit Entry button in the toolbar to open the web page or blog entry in the Contribute editor.
Contribute copies the file from your web or blog server and locks it on the server so that no one else can edit the page or blog entry while you’re working on it.
The Contribute editor works much like a word processor. You can edit text, images, tables, and links on the page or blog entry, and you can even add Microsoft Word or Excel documents to your website or blog entry. The toolbar contains familiar editing buttons as well as buttons for saving, cancelling, or publishing your edits.
3. Publish the changes. When you finish editing your page or blog entry, you can publish the page or blog entry to your website or blog server. Click the Publish button, and Contribute replaces the existing page or blog entry on your web server or blog with the edited version.
Contribute also unlocks the file on the server so other users can edit the page or blog entry.
